Our journey: The inspiration behind IPRIF

IPRIF was founded through a journey that was both professional and deeply personal.

For years, our work brought us into contact with individuals, families, young people, and communities navigating complex social, emotional, and societal challenges. Through these experiences, one question continued to emerge:

Why do some individuals become sources of understanding, compassion, and positive change, while others contribute to cycles of conflict, exclusion, and harm?

The search for that answer became even more personal when our founder witnessed the profound impact that bullying and social exclusion can have on a child.

What began as concern for one young person’s wellbeing soon revealed a broader reality. The experience exposed how words, behaviours, assumptions, and actions can shape self esteem, confidence, mental wellbeing, relationships, and future outcomes. It also highlighted a troubling truth: many people are never taught to meaningfully reflect on the consequences of their actions or understand the impact they have on others.

The experience raised important questions.

How are empathy, accountability, and self awareness developed?

Why do some individuals repeatedly engage in harmful behaviours without reflection?

Why do interventions often focus on responding to problems after they occur rather than helping individuals develop the internal capacity to prevent them?

As these questions deepened through research, professional experience, observation, and reflection, a conviction began to emerge:

Lasting social change begins with the development of the individual.

That conviction became the foundation of the Evolve Mind Framework, IPRIF’s research informed approach to understanding how self awareness, accountability, emotional regulation, critical thinking, civic responsibility, and human development influence individual and community outcomes.

The Evolve Mind Framework was not created in response to a single event. Rather, it emerged from years of experience, inquiry, research, and lived realities that consistently pointed to the same conclusion: when individuals grow in awareness, reflection, responsibility, and understanding, communities become stronger and societies become more resilient.

From this belief and the development of the Evolve Mind Framework, the International Peace Research Institute & Forum was established.

Today, IPRIF advances peace through research, education, dialogue, and human empowerment. Through initiatives such as the Evolve Mind Framework, Peace Across Boundaries, and the Youth Research Ecosystem, we seek to better understand the relationship between individual development, community wellbeing, and societal progress while creating practical pathways for positive change.

Our story continues to unfold through the work we do, the communities we serve, and the individuals who inspire us. Among them is a young researcher whose own experiences helped spark many of the questions that shaped this journey and who now contributes her voice, ideas, and curiosity to the ongoing pursuit of knowledge, understanding, and positive change.

Because peace is not built solely through policies, programmes, or institutions.

Peace begins with people.
